Tell Us Why You Are Voting for Jere

Untitled Document Records 1 to 10 of 51

I am voting for Jere Wood because he listens and he cares about what I have to say and about Roswell.  He is accessible, available, interested and involved in the many community events and concerns.  He has a vision for our future improvements in keeping with our historical roots.  I thank Jere for the eight years he has served, and wish him the best December 1st in the runoff.  Go Jere!

Lisa Klausmeyer

Dear Roswell Friends:

I hope this letter finds you both happy and well.  It’s been some time since I have written asking for your support of issues important to all of us.

As a professional in the real estate and development arena, I am very interested in the future of this city. Roswell is not alone in the challenge of balancing the quality of life that homeowners demand with the economic viability that a healthy tax base requires.  However, if Roswell is to continue to prosper, then the transportation and redevelopment challenges that currently exist must be proactively addressed.  I have no doubt that Jere Wood has the leadership skills and experience to lead Roswell through this important challenge.

As a former Roswell councilperson, I have worked with Jere and I know him well.  Jere provides the leadership that Roswell needs for the future growth and well-being of our residential and business communities.  Please consider reelecting Jere Wood as your Mayor on Tuesday, December 1st.

Sincerely,

Kristen Riley

My name is Andrew Wordes and I am a 13-year resident of Roswell.  I am and have been supporting Mayor Wood for re-election because Roswell is a beautiful, wondertful city and with his knowledge and insight, it can only get better.  He has responsibly managed our budget so we have $26 million in the bank, he has added 600 acres of parkland, and he and the Roswell Fire Department make the best barbeque in the city!

Mayor Wood is a man of integrity and his word, and he has devoted most of his working day to running our city as a full-time Mayor on a part-time Mayor's salary.

We are one of the best places to live in America and have one of the lowest crime rates for a city our size.  Being a life-long resident, Jere will always do what is best for the city.

Jere has proven to be a a strong, successful leader and has never been just a follower.  He has integrity and is willing to stand up for what is right and in the best interest of Roswell as a whole.

I respectfully ask you, my neighbors, to re-elect Jere Wood as our mayor.

Respectfully,

Andrew S. Wordes

I'm voting for Jere Wood for Mayor because now is the time for experience, strength and leadership. It is not a time for consensus building. By charter Roswell's mayor is a weak position. The mayor only votes to break a tie. A weak mayor's position, calls for a strong personality to fill the position.

While David Tolleson claims that his biggest strength is consensus building, based upon his record, I see that as his biggest weakness.  During his 10 years on council, rather than taking strong leadership positions on the important issues, he has taken a backseat and followed the leadership of Lori Henry and Paula Wininski.  The result is a city that has a reputation of being so business unfriendly that some contractors refuse to accept work in the city.  My question to Mr. Tolleson is, where has your consensus building gotten us for the last 10 years?

For the last 8 to 12 years our city has been in the stranglehold of a council that has implemented policies that have made it impossible for businesses and developers to create viable redevelopment projects in our city.  The result is that we have too many areas that are sitting underused and deteriorating.  Mr. Tolleson played a very big part in that stranglehold. He showed himself  to be a follower, not a leader. His track record says that he is part of the problem, he is not part of the solution. With the make up of the new city council, and with Mayor Wood's leadership, we can finally reverse some of these policies and create an environment that will attract quality development with reasonable densities.

Mayor Wood has a proven track record. He is a strong leader. He has strong relationships with other local, state, and national leaders.  As our country fights it's way out of this recession, these contacts are going to be critically important to our city.  Now is the time for experience, strength and leadership.  Now is the time for Jere Wood.

I support Jere Wood for Mayor and believe that his leadership has been instrumental in making Roswell one of the top cities to live.  Jere is so involved in the community; he is visible and readily available.  Jere is not "wishy washy", is honest in his opinion and strives to make decisions based on what the majority of the citizens of Roswell want.  Why should we fix something that isn't broken?  It is quite apparent that Roswell is a great place to live and work and with the "new" council coming on board, I believe with Jere at the helm, we are going to see amazing energy  and fantastic results that will push Roswell even closer to the top!

I am voting for Jere Wood because he is supportive of the agencies that I have worked for.   He has made personal visits to the North Fulton Senior Services picnics and their special events and he has also demonstratted that he cares about the children of North Fulton.  In fact, he was the first person to arrive at the National Education Award Ceremony at the Child Development Association.  He supports limiting the number of houses that can be placed on the corner of Hardscrabble Road and was instrumental in getting a needed Greenway in Brookfield. This is the kind of hands on and caring Mayor that has made Roswell a great city to live in.

Mayor Wood has made Roswell the BEST CITY a kid could want to grow up in. A very Safe City with great Parks and City Programs. I'm glad to be a kid growing up in Roswell! I love the Youth Day parade, kids bike races, and all the fun activities on the square.  I especially love to see Mayor Wood around town all the time - riding his scooter.  We see him everywhere!  I know he really cares about Roswell and wants to keep making it the Best City it can be.

I am supporting Jere Wood for Mayor of Roswell because of his passion and dedication to serving Roswell. He is a man of convictions and commitment to this great community.

Jere and his wife Judy are both small business owners in Roswell. They first handedly understand and place the significance on the challenges and rewards that offers.

As a nonprofit leader, who has been charged with creating and implementing ways to make our city a better place for ALL to live, that Jere Wood has always been supportive. When Katrina hit several years ago Jere stepped up to the table first to bring together all of the key players that would be impacted by the onslaught of evacuees arriving in Roswell. He spearheaded a very proactive manner to anticipate and address the needs of the evacuees, even before the needs hit us.

Jere is a true believer in putting folks together to help one another. It comes natural to him. He is well connected and those connections have been vital to the area and the services offered. He is always positive in his approach to finding solutions.

The highest compliment I have heard about Jere comes from an employee of the City. She told me, “The one thing that stands out the most about Jere is that he is a very truthful person. The problem is sometimes people do not want to hear or believe the truth.”

As I watch him in the position of Mayor, it is evident that he carries great passion for the job and the city of Roswell. He is motivated by that passion and we all benefit directly from that passion, dedication, conviction and commitment.

Prior to contacting Mayor Wood to inform him that I was personally supporting his reelection campaign, I thought about the reasons why I would want to even weigh in on a political race outside of my City of Johns Creek. Like you, I care about Roswell. I realize what an integral part your city plays in the success of our North Fulton region and potentially Milton County. It is with that role in mind and knowing the incredible progress we have these past few years as a region along with the importance of continuing that progress unimpeded by a changing of the guard that I support Jere Wood’s reelection campaign.

As you may remember, Jere Wood and Mike Bodker have a bit of history. We both fought very hard over the Newtown Community which eventually became about a third of the City of Johns Creek. And as the dust settled following the Battle for Newtown as it was known then and I eventually was elected its mayor, Jere and I became good friends. I did not fully understand then and have learned since how much Jere loves his hometown - Roswell. Jere has a passion for your Quality of Life. He has proven that with his constant pursuit of a complete city, including significant greenspace as well as the focus on alternative forms of transportation like biking, jogging and walking.

He is a true leader as he embraces the role of the Mayor to lead the city in discussions that help guide the citizens and council on issues related to the long-term success of Roswell. While some of those discussions have been controversial and would have been politically expedient to not bring forward, I can tell you that Jere Wood does not shy away from anything that can potentially make Roswell a better place to live. I believe that he has served you well by bringing these conversations forward and allowing the public discourse that eventually leads the city council to making an informed decision.

Jere has also been a leader outside of your city’s borders. He and I pushed for and formed the North Fulton Municipal Association which he most recently chaired. He has been a strong voice for Roswell down at the Gold Dome whenever there was legislation of importance to Roswell or our region. Jere has been an active member and leader in the Georgia Municipal Association and was a past chair of the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association. As its current chair, I can tell you that you are elected to this position by your mayoral peers throughout Metro Atlanta. They and I know that Jere is a great asset to Roswell and to Metro Atlanta.

I can think of no one better to lead Roswell at this important time in your historyand I hope you will strongly consider voting for the Mayor for All of Roswell - Jere Wood.

Respectfully,

Mike Bodker
